Holi Colour! The Most Vibrant Festival in the World.

Consisting of every colour in the rainbow, these bright, bold and beautiful festivals are taking place across the globe. 

 

The 'Holi One' festival is happening throughout August in the USA, South and Central America, U.K and Europe. Inspired by the original Holi Festival in India, colour festivals have become so popular with other communities that the festival now travels all around the world. (A bit like me). :)

 

Thousands of revellers come together to share an amazing experience of music, dance, visual art and (of course) to be covered in brilliant hues of powder. Dressed in all-white, the crowd serves a blank canvas; as the party continues a gigantic work of art begins to evolve. (Absolutely my kind of festival)!

Colours of the Rainbow!

 

Not just a pretty explosion of colours, the Holi endeavour is just as much about philanthropy as it is fun. The Holi One Foundation strives to support an educational child project in each of the cities that the festival will be taking place. They're concept is based on the desire that "We are all one" and only with a good education could everyone have the same chances in the world.

Undoubtedly, nothing can beat the original and best; a cultural kaleidoscope of colourful eye candy - the Holi festival in India is still at the top of my bucket list. Being so, not just for the exciting, fun-filled trip to exotic India that it would be, but for what this beautiful festival represents.
 

Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which comes in February end or early March (on the last full moon of the lunar month). The festival is of ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of ‘good’ over ‘bad’. The colorful festival bridges the social gap and renews sweet relationships. On this day, people hug and wish each other ‘Happy Holi’.

This boisterous affair commemorates the arrival of spring and is an occasion meant to encourage feelings of mirth and joy. During this time, mischievous behaviour is not only condoned, but encouraged! What's not to love?

Hope you're all having a fantastic weekend, it's a bit crappy/rainy here. Not as bad as

America's East Coast right now though. Have been checking online with what's

happening over there as we have no tv on the boat (nice and quiet).

right, but the aim for our next virtual vacation is to declutter our brain, heal the

soul and return with a completely balanced mind, body and spirit.....which usually

lasts for about a day if you get stressed out as quick as I do. So what's it going to be?
