A Burst of Color

Guest post by Jessica, Arcadian Lighting.

Hello! I'm Jessica, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful online resource for beautiful, affordable lighting fixtures. Every day I get to search for interior design inspirations and then share them on lovely blogs. Like Squeezed Daily. Thank you for letting me stop by today. Sarah! I'm delighted to be guest posting on a blog that features such brilliant colors because color can have an amazing effect on a room. If you want to create an energetic, happy atmosphere, try decorating at least one room with bursts of color. I hope these rooms inspire you!
Color Burst
The pale avocado green use throughout this hallway is perfectly luminous and enchanting. Such an unexpected color will help give new life to any room.
Color Burst
A bright color doesn't have to completely dominate a room. The orange archway adds
a brilliant burst of color that's quirky and playful.
Color Burst
There's no better place to look for colorful inspiration than in nature. These floral photographs completely transform the room. The emerald green table lamp really
pops against white wall.
Color Burst
A few splashes of coastal yellows and turquoise can transform a neutral bedroom into
a relaxing paradise. The fresh flowers and greenery add a beautiful natural touch.
Color Burst
A single vibrant shade is all you need, as illustrated with this casual, yet chic bedroom.
Subtle pops of orange imbue the room with a tropical feel.
Color Burst
A few scattered cushions in bold citrus and aqua shades enliven this simple dining nook.
A pair of rustic pendant lights suspended by ropes add a bit of a nautical theme.

Colorful artwork is a simple way to play with the effect that color can have on a room.
If something doesn't work, you're not stuck with it forever.

Decorating a room with varying shades of the same color will help add depth and visual interest. From artwork, to fabric to patterns, this living room is filled with a warm, inviting orange. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

Space of the week

Winter is getting closer, so I'm naturally gravitating to images like the one above.
Love the Suzani and the cute little stove in the corner, warm and cozy but still has
a tropical vibe.
Mix and blend modern, classic and eclectic to achieve a unique and lived in space.
Antiques combinded with bright fabric, colourful modern art and unusual tribal
pieces, all  come together effortlessly and can be constantly evolving  over time.

Airstream envy

I have Airstream envy right now, I drove past an immaculately restored 1950's
Airstream the other day, it was so shiny and sleek. If I was going to tour Australia
I would want to tow one of these babies behind my car!
This wild Airstream trailer was converted by Julie Montgomery to live in with
her son on a tropical fruit farm in Southern California. It also has a studio and
extra living space extending from the trailer leaving the inside of the Airstream
as a cosy sleeping nest and retreat. Source Apartmenttherapy

1950's fibro shack

If you you haven't noticed already, I have a soft spot for Australian 1950's
beach shacks, especially revamped ones that are filled with casual quirk.
I remember Summer holidays at the sleepy beach town Ulladulla
and the chilled out beach house that backed onto a lagoon and the beach,
those were the best memories growing up.....where did you go for holidays?
I love the fresh use of turquoise and white on the exterior of this shack.

Seaside Rustic Charm

The Latest 'Inside Out' magazine features the home of designers Louella
and Mark Tuckey, Located on Sydney's Northern Beaches.  I'd seen this
relaxed 1920's holiday cottage before in a magazine a while ago, and fell
in love with it's nautical inspired design and rustic seaside allure.

The two designers moved from Melbourne to North Sydney and after
searching for the ideal home without much luck, then all on the same
day, they brought a boat, house and rented a shop.....huge shopping day!

I love the bespoke bunting made from a mix of light timbers available
through Mark Tuckey Home www.marktuckey.com.au

Jungalow

Justina from the blog Compai, decorated her small 600 square foot apartment
in Los Feliz, Los Angeles on a budget of $700 using 90% reclaimed materials!

I love this apartments fun and relaxed feel. I would like to get my hands on some
of that Banana leaf wallpaper, very tropical 70's style. Images via Compai blog

Have a great week!

Our House on the market

Just flicking through some photos of the house, when there was furniture in it!
It's looking very bare, with just a few pieces of furniture yet to be sold on ebay.

I've had allot of people asking how I can part with all the lovely furniture pieces
& decor I've collected over the years. It is a little hard to let go of "things" especially
nice things, but our new boat life is one of minimalism, and I don't want to put it all
in storage, pull it all out in 10 years and find that I'm not into that style of furniture
any more. Anyway it will be a good excuse to go shopping when we move back to land!

Tropical Homes

I'm smitten with this house, I always tried to get a glimpse of the 'C' house that's perched on a hill in Coorparoo overlooking Brisbane city.  Designed by Brisbane based Donovan Hill Architects,I would love to have the budget to build a house designed by these talented Architects........I can dream.
