Setting the Mood with Patterns and Prints

Is it just me or is there something about chevron that evokes a tropical vibe?
Especially done this way. Image via tropical wardrobe

Setting the mood for the weekend with these finds.

I don't know about you but I'm drawn to bright, bold and unusual patterns like a moth to the flame.

king of the fruit

I'm back from the brink!!! I was going insane while I waited just over two weeks to get a new wifi from bigpond. Yes, no internet connection to my laptop and I have to admit, I was ready to throw in the towel with Squeezed Daily.....it seems a mission to get back into blogging mode when you've been forced to stop. To celebrate the return of my beloved internet connection and to relight the flame for all things tropical, I've decided to relaunch with a post on all things pineapple-ly (the blogs logo). Hope you enjoy. -Sarah

A Burst of Color

Guest post by Jessica, Arcadian Lighting.

Hello! I'm Jessica, a writer for Arcadian Lighting, a wonderful online resource for beautiful, affordable lighting fixtures. Every day I get to search for interior design inspirations and then share them on lovely blogs. Like Squeezed Daily. Thank you for letting me stop by today. Sarah! I'm delighted to be guest posting on a blog that features such brilliant colors because color can have an amazing effect on a room. If you want to create an energetic, happy atmosphere, try decorating at least one room with bursts of color. I hope these rooms inspire you!
Color Burst
The pale avocado green use throughout this hallway is perfectly luminous and enchanting. Such an unexpected color will help give new life to any room.
Color Burst
A bright color doesn't have to completely dominate a room. The orange archway adds
a brilliant burst of color that's quirky and playful.
Color Burst
There's no better place to look for colorful inspiration than in nature. These floral photographs completely transform the room. The emerald green table lamp really
pops against white wall.
Color Burst
A few splashes of coastal yellows and turquoise can transform a neutral bedroom into
a relaxing paradise. The fresh flowers and greenery add a beautiful natural touch.
Color Burst
A single vibrant shade is all you need, as illustrated with this casual, yet chic bedroom.
Subtle pops of orange imbue the room with a tropical feel.
Color Burst
A few scattered cushions in bold citrus and aqua shades enliven this simple dining nook.
A pair of rustic pendant lights suspended by ropes add a bit of a nautical theme.

Colorful artwork is a simple way to play with the effect that color can have on a room.
If something doesn't work, you're not stuck with it forever.

Decorating a room with varying shades of the same color will help add depth and visual interest. From artwork, to fabric to patterns, this living room is filled with a warm, inviting orange. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8

White Painted Floors Boards

I do love a natural timber floor, especially a recycled wide board....but (and  that's
a big but), I've always wanted to paint existing timber floors in a renovation or even lay
cheap timber and then lime wash or coat in a durable white paint to continue the design
style through the house for that fresh Bahamas look. Image unpretentious style blog

Painting a timber floor can be an inexpensive option when renovating  a home when the
existing floorboards are miss matched or not the best quality timber. Various levels of
finishes can be obtained from the 'shabby chic' look to a high gloss sleek and fresh look.

Obsessed with

It's apparent that I have an obsession with Australia's Real Living magazine,
there is a rather large pile taking up valuable space on the boat, which is a big
deal, as we try to only have the essentials aboard! Love'n the latest issue and
that fluro pink denim chair! Perfect beach house statement chair- Koskela
Cushions featured are from Bonnie and Neil, below are some more from their latest collection.

Decorating - Get it from the Garden

Love to add some life into your décor but find it a bit costly to keep your vases topped up
with fresh flowers? Just step out into your garden and you'll find all kinds of interesting
stems and flowers you could pop into vases or jars. By using single stems, it not only saves
your garden from constant pillage but also makes it a sculptural feature in its own right.

Get Outside

The weather in Brisbane has been perfect over the last couple of weeks,
warm sunny days low humidity and no rain! We've had so much rain over
Summer that it feels a bit strange to have two weekends in a row without
a down pour, so I'm making the most of it and spending as much time
outside as I can. On that note, I'm going to grab a takeaway coffee and
my laptop, find a nice grassy spot along the water front and hopefully get
some work done.

Hope you're enjoying your Autumn or Spring wherever you are!

Space of the week

Winter is getting closer, so I'm naturally gravitating to images like the one above.
Love the Suzani and the cute little stove in the corner, warm and cozy but still has
a tropical vibe.

Happy Hour - Cart it!

I definitely have thing for bar carts, if I see one on pinterest
I must pin it! Here are some of the stunning carts that have
been carting around the place lately. Oh and another thing- is it
seriously Friday again? I can't get over how the weeks seem to fly
by, oh well, the weekend is here so I can't complain too much.
